3. Mark Owen’s memoir No Easy Day is a first-person account of a Navy Seal who witnessed the take down of Osama bin Laden. Owen describes the journey of becoming a SEAL and the countless missions of which he was a part. He illustrates the work of the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group, known as SEAL Team Six. The readers are taken along with the team right into the line of fire. They hear first time accounts of the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips in the Indian Ocean in 2009, stories of street attacks in Iraq and, primarily, the killing of Osama bin Laden in 2011. When Mark Owen was a kid, he read a book written by a former SEAL and from page one, he knew he wanted to become a SEAL. It was something that was bigger than himself. Later, he describes watching the second plane crash into the World Trade Center. It was a moment he had been training for, and he longed to stand up and fight whoever was behind such a destructive crime. He says, â€Å"I was frustrated.
